Welcome to Capture the Cosmos: Forgotten Coast
Get ready to experience a side of Florida that most people never see!
We are incredibly excited to have you join us for three unforgettable nights of astrophotography along Florida's Forgotten Coast, based in beautiful Wakulla County, Florida.
When the sun disappears and most visitors call it a day, our adventure is just getting started.
Over three nights, we'll chase the stars across some of North Florida's most beautiful landscapes, historic lighthouses, secluded beaches, coastal marshes, winding rivers, and the open waters of the Gulf. Far away from the bright lights and crowded beaches most people associate with Florida, we'll slow things down, turn our cameras toward the heavens, and experience the quiet magic of Old Florida beneath a sky filled with stars.
Three Nights. One Incredible Adventure.
Our time together will be built around photography, exploration, learning, and most importantly, having a great time beneath the stars.
We'll cover techniques including:
- Shot planning and creative composition
- Sunset and golden-hour photography
- Blue-hour foregrounds
- Milky Way and nightscape photography
- Focusing and camera settings after dark
- Star tracking for incredibly detailed skies
- Image stacking for cleaner night images
- Blue-hour blending for dynamic foregrounds
- Complete astrophotography editing techniques
We'll also dive into powerful planning and processing tools such as PlanIt Pro, PhotoPills, Starry Landscape Stacker, and Sequator, helping you understand not just how to capture an image, but how to take an idea from planning all the way through the final edit.
This is about more than camera settings.
It's about learning to see the landscape differently—recognizing leading lines, reflections, foregrounds, celestial positioning, and those little details that can turn a photograph into something special.

Your daytime hours are yours to explore, relax, or catch up on some much-needed sleep!
Wakulla County and the surrounding Forgotten Coast are packed with opportunities for adventure. Take a scenic boat tour along the Wakulla River, rent a kayak, go saltwater fishing, explore the area's wildlife and coastal communities, or head over to St. George Island and spend a few hours relaxing on the beach.
Then, as evening approaches, it's time to grab the cameras and do it all over again.
Lodging and meals are not included, giving you the freedom to choose accommodations and dining that work best for you. The area offers everything from unique Airbnbs and vacation rentals to historic lodging and comfortable local hotels.
For our editing sessions, bring along your dinner, favorite snack, and something to drink, settle in, and enjoy a relaxed evening of learning, sharing images, and working through our astrophotography editing techniques together.
Can I Bring a Non-Photographer Spouse or Guest?
Absolutely! You're welcome to bring a spouse, family member, or friend along on your Florida adventure. There's plenty for them to experience throughout the Forgotten Coast while we're photographing and editing. We simply ask that non-participating guests do not attend our scheduled photography, field, or editing sessions, allowing us to keep those experiences focused on registered workshop participants.
